There are two types of guide in NNMGA.
1. NNMGA International Guide (IFMGA)
The first one is International Mountain guide (IFMGA Guide NO SKI) who has successfully completed their Mountain Guide Exam conducted by NNMGA which is only international standard mountain guide education module (certified by IFMGA). They are certified as Level 4 (The highest rank of skill testing) by Nation Skill Testing Board (NSTB), under Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), Ministry of Education of Nepal. They are eligible to guide in all mountains around the globe.
2. NNMGA National Guide (Aspirant Guide)
NNMGA National Guide (Aspirant Guide) are those mountain guides who are aspiring and are eligible candidate for International mountain guide in future shortly (after practice on same status for 2 years). They are certified as Level 3 (The higher rank of skill testing) Nation Skill Testing Board (NSTB), under Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), Ministry of Education of Nepal. They are eligible as local mountain guide (similar to traditional Mountain guide) to be involved in climbing and mountaineering expedition at any mountains across Nepal. They can be an NNMGA International Guide (IFMGA Guide) after successful practice of a minimum of 2 years of mountaineering exercise as required by NNMGA. After completing the two years time, they will then be eligible to take part in the final guide exam.
