
Tshiring Jangbu Sherpa, born on August 1, 1977 in Raksikharka, Solukhumbu is also known as ‘Father of ski in Nepal’. Mr. Sherpa completed his schooling from Shree Lamu Danda primary school, Sanolamo, Solukhumbu. He commenced his career in trekking as a kitchen boy for a trekking group headed to Everest base camp. Gradually, in 2003, he was offered to climb Lhotse as an assistant guide for which he obliged and successfully summited without supplemental oxygen. He recognized his new found passion and initiated to pursue career in mountaineering.
In 2016, he became a certified International Mountain Guide after gaining membership of the International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations (IMFGA). He has climbed thirteen 8000m+ mountains since then, including three successful Everest ascends. Tshiring had his ski training in Europe in addition to his IMG training and has climbed several humongous 8000ers such as Everest, Lhotse, Cho-oyu, Makalu, Manaslu and Sishapangma.
Tshiring Jangbu Sherpa has become a renowned personality in the contemporary time. Mr. Sherpa is a board member of Nepal Mountain Academy as well. He also serves as the Managing Director of Alpine Sherpa Guide Treks & Expeditions and is general secretary of Nepal National Mountain Guide Association and member of Nepal Mountaineering Association. Mr. Sherpa, a well-known climber and instructor, has a long history of providing high-quality education, training, and technical skills to academics and mountain professionals. He is particularly proud of his role as lead guide in the successful “Everest Measurement Project 2019,” that earned him an award from the Prime Minister. Tshiring considers the measurement of Everest and his role as Head Mountain Guide to be one of his biggest achievements in his mountaineering career. After an arduous 45 days of huge hurdles and hard effort, Mr. Khim Lal Gautam, the expedition leader and chief surveyor, together with 7 other members of engineers and Sherpas, were ultimately able to come up with the new height of Everest (8848.86)m utilizing GNSS equipment.
Mr. Sherpa also was deployed to Makalu (8463m), one of the six summits chosen for the mountain cleaning campaign 2021, where his team collected approximately 6,000 kg of waste from various camps.
